The
Explosion
• Where did the Explosion take place?
Due to the nature of the collision, the nature of the
explosion, and the destruction of the Mont-Blanc, there was little evidence
to indicate the precise position of the ship when it exploded. The final position
of the Mont-Blanc has been determined to have been just south of Pier 6 directly
below the Richmond neighborhood, at the bottom of Richmond Street.
The immediate impact of the explosion covered 325 acres,
windows were broken more than 50 miles away.
